Long-Term Care discussion led by Olympic gold medalist Wendy Boglioli

 

No one should allow their future to happen by accident. That was the message Wendy Boglioli, a 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist for swimming, presented during a “Financially Sound, Physically Strong” event hosted by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM), Atlanta, on May13 at the Georgian Club. Financial Advisor Kristen Fricks-Roman, a senior vice president at MSWM helped develop the private women’s event sponsored by the firm’s Office of Diversity and Genworth Financial.

More than 70 local women attended the event to listen to Boglioli share her personal experience caring for her father the same year she was going for Gold, as get educated on the value of preparation.

“Planning and preparation is key,” stated Fricks-Roman who invited, along with other financial advisors at MSWM, clients to the educational event. “Wendy’s presentation was impactful and brought attention to the affects long-term care planning can have on one’s family and business.”

MOSAIC Group Wins Guildmaster Award for Customer Service

Metro Atlanta-based MOSAIC Group [Architects and Remodelers] has been awarded a 2013 Guildmaster Award for exceptional customer service. The company is owned by William Fadul and Rick Goldstein. GuildQuality, an independent customer satisfaction surveying company, has powered the Guildmaster Award since 2005 to celebrate service excellence in the building, remodeling, contracting, and home services professions.

Over the past few months, GuildQuality reviewed numerous survey responses submitted by clients of Guildmaster candidates. In granting awards, GuildQuality considers two primary metrics for each candidate: the percentage of customers who would recommend and the percentage of customers who responded. MOSAIC Group achieved a recommendation rate of greater than 90 percent from their customers, who were surveyed through GuildQuality.

ATLANTA -- Pike Nurseries are holding a customer appreciation event at all locations on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

To honor their local customers, Pike is hosting the event for free, which includes food, activities and prizes. To win prizes, scratch-off cards will be given to the first customers at each location. Pike will also offer a 20 percent discount on some products in the nurseries. 

From 11:00 - 1:00 that day, Pike will grill hot dogs for customers to enjoy, free of charge.

Fulton County school breakfast programs help kids eat healthy

FULTON COUNTY -- The American Association of School Administration has awarded a grant to Fulton County Schools, in which the funds will help kids eat healthy breakfasts before their school days begin. 

"Breakfast in the Classroom" will be implemented in Mimosa Elementary and Woodland Elementary. By having the program in those schools, students will be provided with a low-cost bagged breakfast from the cafeteria. They can then eat the breakfast in their classrooms before school starts.

Six middle schools will offer "Grab-n-Go' breakfasts along with four high schools. Those schools include Holcomb Bridge, McNair, Paul D. West, Ridgeview, Sandtown and Woodland Middle, along with Creekside, McClarin, Tri-Cities and Westlake High. Similar to "Breakfast in the Classroom," the "Grab-n-Go" program allows students to take a bagged breakfast from the cafeteria and portable kiosks in the school.. They can eat the meals before school.

911 call released in North Point Mall bomb hoax

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Charges were filed on Monday for a 28-year-old man who was taken into custody for Friday morning's bomb threat at North Point Mall.

The man, Omari Glenn Riden, faces terroristic threats, making false alarms and a false 911 report.

Riden was interviewed by Alpharetta detectives in connection with the case. During the interview, police said Riden began to cry and confessed to the telephoned bomb threat.

Officials evacuated North Point Mall after police said a man called in a bomb threat Friday morning, at 9:30 a.m. They said the evacuation was out of an abundance of caution.

PETA thanks firefighters for rescuing ducks

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- A thank you to some of our everyday heroes.

The organization PETA recognized the Alpharetta Fire Department for its quick action in saving eight ducklings from a storm drain. 

A member of PETA saw the ducklings fall into the storm drain and called fire crews. 

PETA presented the department with its Compassionate Fire Department Award.

Fulton County water customers warned of collection scam

FULTON COUNTY, GA. -- Fulton County's Water & Sewer billing office is warning customers of a potential scam.

Some customers have reported being contacted by individuals pretending to be calling on behalf of Fulton County Water & Sewer billing. 

The callers have requested customers' credit card numbers, claiming that they need immediate payment in order to avoid service disconnection. 

Fulton County's Water & Sewer billing does not accept any form of payment by telephone.  In addition, Fulton County does not contact customers in the evening.
