About Us

Hayden's Way

Mission Statement
To provide a safe haven for children with learning disabilities to learn and grow educationally and socially by using multisensory teaching methods, relationship building skills and other educational tools to reach their full potential. Our teachers are certified in Orton-Gillingham and trained in Lindamood Bell techniques.

Multisensory Learning
Multisensory learning incorporates each of the senses in the learning experience - audio, visual, tactile. This approach to learning works exceptionally well for students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia. Hayden's Way incorporates Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing techniques along with Orton-Gillingham tactile learning techniques to help our students reach academic goals such as decoding, phonemic awareness, and reading comprehension. For example, students will complete 3-dimensional projects in their creative writing class, learn how to lift fingerprints and compare hair samples in their forensic science class, and create topography maps in their maps and geology class. Teachers will integrate multisensory techniques in each subject to practice and promote creativity, art, writing, critical thinking, problem solving and deductive reasoning.

Peer Buddies
We have created a peer buddy system. At Hayden’s Way, each child will have a peer to assist him/her in enrichment classes three times a week and in their writing class two times a week. Peer buddies will also take part in field trips and lunches. They will help our children feel part of a larger group of kids their age, thus helping our students to develop stronger social skills.
