Fulton County School System Decides Make-Up Days

FULTON COUNTY, GA -- Due to last week's winter weather and school closures, the Fulton County School System will hold two instructional make-up days for students and teaching staff.

Additional make-up workdays will be held for county teachers.

The two make-up days for students will be Friday, Mar. 11 (originally scheduled as a teacher workday) and Friday, Apr. 22 (originally scheduled as a day off for both students and teachers).

To meet contract requirements, teachers will have a workday on Monday, Feb. 21, which was previously a student/teacher holiday, and will also work on Friday, Apr. 22. In addition, there will be two post-planning days on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3.

State board of education rules allow "forgiveness" for up to four weather days during the school year. Because Fulton County has already canceled six days of classes in the 2010-11 school year -- five in January and one in December, all due to icy roads -- the schools are required to make up two days.
