Fulton County Schools' Hardship Transfer Applications Due Feb. 15

FULTON COUNTY, GA -- As of Tuesday, Jan. 4, applications are available for parents who wish to apply for a 2011-12 hardship transfer or to renew a current transfer to another Fulton County elementary, middle or high school.

Parents can use an online form, available under the "Parents" section of the Fulton County School System's Web site, to enter their information and print it to obtain signatures and/or supporting documentation.

Although using an online form will help expedite processing time, applications can also be picked up at all Fulton schools as well as the Fulton County Schools Administrative Center (786 Cleveland Avenue SW, Atlanta, 30315).

The deadline for submitting a transfer application is Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 4:30 p.m. There will be absolutely no exceptions or extensions granted.

Applications can be mailed or hand-delivered to:

Fulton County Schools' Student Assignment Office
c/o Meadows Operations Center
5270 Northfield Boulevard
College Park, GA 30349

They may also be faxed to 404-763-5546.

The Feb. 15 deadline applies to students and parents seeking a transfer for medical reasons, curriculum differences, child care situations or employees' children. School system employees must renew their request through the Student Assignment Office. This year, the human resources department will verify employment directly with the office.

Schools participating in open enrollment, a separate transfer process that allows students to move to a school with available space, will be announced in early May.

Parents who have questions or need more information can contact the Assignment Office at 404-763-5550.
