Week Eight Game of the Week Nominees
News

DALLAS, GA -- Hiram plays at East Paulding in 11Alive and Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.net's Game of the Week. 52.1 percent of fans voted online for the 5-4A contest, helping the game to edge out some other interesting matchups.

East Paulding is currently tied for fourth in their sub-region, but with Hiram and Pope still on the schedule, the Raiders are not out of the playoff race.

A win over 6-1 Hiram will not come easy for East Paulding. The Hornets have looked impressive in each of their six wins and their only loss is to undefeated Kell.

Blessed Trinity-Lovett, which got 44 percent of the Game of the Week vote, also has playoff implications. With Westminster sitting at 2-0 in sub-region play, either Blessed Trinity or Lovett could be on the outside looking in come playoff time.

Both teams are coming off big wins; Blessed Trinity beat Jackson 48-6 last week and Lovett beat Therrell 51-14.

Another Game of the Week nominee, Alpharetta and Roswell, will be about as unpredictable as a 5A matchup can be. Roswell looked to be a good team with a tough schedule, having started the season with close losses to Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, and Norcross. Then, after getting back on track with two straight region wins, the Hornets lost to Centennial. Still, they figure to make the playoffs.

Alpharetta took a different path. The Raiders started out the season strong, but after losing two straight games to West Forsyth and Milton, Alpharetta is 4-3 and near the bottom of Region 6-5A.

Then, there is the Peachtree Ridge-Norcross game, in which both teams are coming off surprising losses.

Norcross lost to North Gwinnett 38-0 and Collins Hill upset Peachtree Ridge 14-10.
