(WXIA) -- All Kroger stores in the Atlanta Division raised over $478,000 in their six-week 2012 Can Hunger campaign.

The Atlanta Division covers all of Georgia, as well as South Carolina, Northern Alabama and Eastern Tennessee. During the time from November 18 through December 24, 2012, Kroger sold icons worth $1, $3, or $5 to customers. From the icons sold, the money benefitted Feeding America food banks by supplying funds for meals.

For each community around Atlanta, the money raised at each of the 213 Kroger stores went towards families in need in that corresponding area.

"Each year the support from our customers across the Atlanta Division is overwhelming," says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger's Atlanta Division. "And with their help we are able to continue to 'Can Hunger' in the communities we serve."
