'Elf on the Shelf' author to give readings this weekend

ATLANTA -- Carol Aebersold, co-creator of holiday children's book "The Elf on the Shelf," will host readings and book signings at three Metro Atlanta locations this weekend.

Aebersold, a Georgia resident and University of West Georgia graduate, based her story on a family tradition dating back to the 1970s.

In the book, Santa Claus sends "scout elves" all over the world to watch children and help him determine whether they've been naughty or nice. "The Elf on the Shelf" follows a scout elf named Chippy as he helps a little boy, Taylor McTuttle, rediscover the Christmas spirit.

Aebersold will be at Pottery Barn Kids at Lenox Square Mall at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. Lenox is located at 3393 Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, Aebersold will visit Parsons Gifts (525 Lakeland Plaza, Cumming) at 10 a.m., followed by the North Point Barnes & Noble (7660 Northpoint Parkway, Alpharetta) at 2 p.m.
