Beat Black Friday boredom with 'Deathly Hallows' screening at Best Buy

ATLANTA -- If you're planning to stand in line for Black Friday deals at Best Buy, you may get a chance to enjoy a free screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Four Atlanta-area Best Buy stores will show the film at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, giving customers the chance to relax before the Black Friday shopping begins at midnight.

Get there at 8 p.m. to take advantage of refreshments and giveaways. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 3D will be available for sale at Best Buy stores.

'Elf on the Shelf' author to give readings this weekend

ATLANTA -- Carol Aebersold, co-creator of holiday children's book "The Elf on the Shelf," will host readings and book signings at three Metro Atlanta locations this weekend.

Aebersold, a Georgia resident and University of West Georgia graduate, based her story on a family tradition dating back to the 1970s.

In the book, Santa Claus sends "scout elves" all over the world to watch children and help him determine whether they've been naughty or nice. "The Elf on the Shelf" follows a scout elf named Chippy as he helps a little boy, Taylor McTuttle, rediscover the Christmas spirit.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- One of the world's most popular classical crossover groups will perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in Alpharetta next summer.

Il Divo will begin the North American leg of its six-continent tour in May and will stop by the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012.

The quartet -- Urs Buhler, Sebastien Izambard, Carlos Marin and David Miller -- was created by famed British music producer Simon Cowell and recently released its fifth album, Wicked Game.

Tickets for the Aug. 12 show will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. They can be purchased by calling 1-800-745-3000 or visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Prices range from $40 to $125.

LOCAL PROFILE: Steve Stoute, founder of Transition
