ATLANTA, GA, October 7, 2011 – Jesse Walton, a financial advisor and Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (MSSB) in Alpharetta has been recognized in Georgia Trend magazine’s “40 under 40” list of honorees. Announced in the October issue, Georgia Trend’s 2011 group of honorees showcases young achievers in business, government, politics, education and nonprofits.

Georgia Trend’s editorial staff selected the 40 individuals from nominations submitted by readers. The criteria looked for the individuals who are making an impact on their professions, their communities or, in some cases, the entire state.

“I congratulate Jesse for being a positive contributor in his community and with his work,” stated Walter Jameson, MSSB’s Southeast Regional Director.

Walton is an active community volunteer. As an investment professional in the financial services industry since 2000, Walton focuses on assisting high net worth families, businesses, and non-profit organizations with investment management, comprehensive financial planning and business solutions. His practice concentrates on retirement planning, income distribution planning and wealth protection strategies for pre-retiree and retirees.

Walton’s community work include being an active member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta Inc., a coalition of some of Atlanta’s most influential men organized to empower Atlanta’s challenged communities. For the past seven years, Jesse has provided stewardship and financial expertise to St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga. He has been the church’s finance chairperson since 2008 and is heavily involved with the upcoming capital project for a new building.

Walton loves the arts and is an active member of the National Black Arts Festival. He was a participant in the 2009 Marvin C Goldstein Black-Jewish Project Understanding Emerging Leaders Retreat as well as the Metro Atlanta Arts and Culture Coalition (MAACC) 2007 Art Leaders in Metro Atlanta (ALMA) Program.

Walton’s work accomplishments include playing a leading role in MSSB Atlanta’s diversity initiative; he was instrumental in the creation of the firm’s African-American Financial Advisor Forum. He also seeks creative and unique experience for MSSB advisors and clients to embrace culture and diversity. In 2009 he was featured in the October edition of Atlanta Magazine for its Five Star Wealth Manager Award.
