ALPHARETTA: Atlanta Humane Society announces North Metro expansion | Business
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Humane Society has purchased property for a second location in north Fulton County, which will more than double the organization's capacity.
The Society acquired seven acres on Mansell Road in Alpharetta in late January. Currently the land includes a 32,000 square-foot automotive dealership, which will be renovated into new kennels and administrative space. The outdoor space on the property will be converted to exercise space for the animals.
The Society says the new location will allow them to add 50 jobs and provide new services and resources to the northern suburbs. Renovations are expected to be completed in late 2011.
"We are thrilled to have an additional location," said Humane Society president Carl Leveridge in a statement. "We've enjoyed tremendous support from individuals and businesses throughout our 139-year history and that's why we're able to expand."
The headquarters for the Atlanta Humane Society will remain at its Howell Mill Road location in Midtown.
