Why would a successful business change locations?  After several years of operating the successful consignment store she purchased in 2008, Trudy Morse, the owner of Emily’s Closet didn’t take this business move lightly.  “The shop had been at the same location for five years. We have very loyal customers - many come in at least once a week - and that's not something we wanted to give up nor did we want to make it hard on our customers who depend on us”, Morse said.

Even so, a number of factors indicated that a move was necessary, so after careful consideration the brand name consignment store for girls and boys (newborn to Junior sizes) and moms-to-be, moved to the Flynn Crossing Shopping Center in Alpharetta, at 5190 McGinnis Ferry Road.  Now, a month after opening in the new location, Morse says it was the right decision.

The boutique is clean, uncluttered and items are well displayed which makes them easy to find. A new customer may come in initially because of word of mouth, but shoppers return because of the quality, the prices and the customer service.  Being a children’s consignment store, Emily’s Closet also has a small play area for the little ones.

Emily's Closet chooses consignment pieces to appeal to many different shoppers, so there are traditional, smocked dresses and jon jon’s for young children, but the staff really enjoys putting together fun, funky pieces to make great outfits. When thinking of bigger kids, they have brands such as Abercrombie, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Hollister, Delias, and other popular labels. They also have a call list for such items as Miss Me jeans (which are very popular), ski clothes, fancy dresses and boys suits.

Emily’s Closet is now accepting summer clothing, particularly boys clothing and maternity.  If you’re thinking of doing your summer consigning there, the clothing they accept has to be in like-new condition and of current style.  Especially with maternity clothing, professional women want to look stylish and appropriate, but they don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes they'll wear for only a few months.

Emily’s Closet is open Tuesday-Friday from 10am-6pm and Saturday from 11am-5pm. Find them at http://www.emilyscloset.net/.
