Alpharetta attracts another high-tech corporation, more jobs

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Another high-tech corporation is relocating to Alpharetta.

Agilysys, Inc., an information technology and software company currently based in Ohio, announced Tuesday it is moving its corporate headquarters to Alpharetta.

Alpharetta, in north Fulton County, has been attracting high-tech companies the way nectar attracts bees.

Agilysys, alone, will add about 100 jobs to Alpharetta.

"Every job helps," said James Drinkard, Alpharetta's Assistant City Administrator who has headed the city's economic development campaigns.

Drinkard said that in the past four to five years, more than 30 high tech companies have moved to Alpharetta.

The main reason is buried beneath the city.

"The fiber optic network is really something that sets us apart," Drinkard said.

The fiber optic network was first installed for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
