(ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE) -- The owners of 60 metro Atlanta Chick-fil-A restaurants provided 5,900 lunches Wednesday to children in seven counties who typically receive free and reduced lunches at school, reports Marietta Daily Journal.

The food made its way to children through MUST Ministries, whose summer lunch program has been around for 19 years. Program volunteers meet at churches in Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Forsyth, Gwinnett, north Fulton, Paulding and Pickens counties five days a week to make, pack and deliver lunches to nearly 6,000 children across eight counties for 10 weeks during the summer.

Random Act of Kindness: Operation Oreo

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- During the month of June, Alpharetta First United Methodist Church (AFUMC) is collecting Oreo cookies for Operation Oreo, their annual cookie drive which collects Oreos to send to troops overseas.

Senior Pastor Dr. Don Martin began Operation Oreo after an encounter with a soldier on an airplane in 2009. Dr. Martin asked the young soldier what he missed most about home while on tour, to which he quickly replied "Oreos, Double Stuf!"

Since then, the church has collected Oreos to send to soldiers. This year's goal is to collect over 2 tons of America's favorite cookie.

(WXIA) -- Kroger customers in metro Atlanta recently showed that they are a charitable bunch.

During the final two weeks in May, shoppers raised $232,000 for the Children's Miracle Network through the Miracle Balloons promotion.

For only $1, a customer could purchase a paper balloon to hang in a local Kroger. All proceeds from the fundraiser went directly to Children's Miracle Network hospitals and health networks, such as Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

"Kroger customers consistently show their care for our communities by constantly going above and beyond with their charitable donations," Glynn Jenkins, spokesperson for Kroger's Atlanta division, said in a release. "Through their support of the Miracle Balloons program, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of children."

Teens of Excellence Prom Closet Program needs formalwear donations for Male and Female Teens

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The Housing Authority of Fulton County (HAFC) and the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) want donations of formal wear and accessories for the fifth annual “Teens of Excellence” Prom Closet Program.

HAFC is seeking donations of gently used and clean prom/formal dresses and tuxedoes of all sizes for high school seniors graduating in May 2014. Donations of larger size formal wear are especially needed.

The program seeks to help single parents, grandparents and/or guardians on fixed incomes to provide prom wear without the disappointing choice of saying no to a teen about purchasing formalwear because of limited income.

The formal wear is provided to high school seniors, with priority given to Housing Authority of Fulton County residents. In 2013, more than 250 high school seniors in Fulton County received donated formal clothing to wear to their proms.

As in previous years, items needed for the 2014 Prom Closet include:
