FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The Housing Authority of Fulton County (HAFC) and the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) are sponsoring the county's second annual Prom Closet program.

The HAFC is seeking donations that will allow disadvantaged young women to dress up for formal events.

Items needed for the Prom Closet include:

* Formal dresses (clean, gently used, all sizes)
* Shoes
* Accessories (bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc.)
* Handbags

Donations can be dropped off at the HAFC (4273 Wendell Drive, Atlanta, 30336) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day to give is Friday, Apr. 1.

The Prom Dress Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the HAFC.

Applications are now being accepted for the giveaway. To qualify, a girl must be a high school senior who will graduate this spring; she must provide school identification and a high school transcript.

Priority for the Prom Closet shopping spree will go to HAFC residents.

This year, the Prom Closet will also provide tuxedos to young men who cannot afford to purchase one for prom. Eligible boys will meet the same requirements as girls.

To register for the Prom Dress Giveaway, contact Iris Conners with the HAFC either via email or at 404-588-4972. The transcript and ID must be available at the time of registration.
