Eat at Ippolito's, help Humble Heroes

ATLANTA -- Ippolito's Italian Restaurant has teamed up with Humble Heroes to provide much-needed services to sick children and injured heroes in Metro Atlanta.

From now until Thursday, Apr. 21, Ippolito's is collecting toys and coloring books at participating locations. Those items will be donated to patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta by Humble Heroes and the staff of 92.2 dave fm on Saturday, Apr. 23.

Alpharetta teachers taped to wall for charity

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- On Thursday, Mar. 31, some very good sports at Manning Oaks Elementary School in Alpharetta agreed to be taped to the wall to raise funds for relief organizations in Japan.

The Manning Oaks Student Council hosted the event. They charged students $1 per yard of tape to fasten principal Sharon Reinig and teachers Edward Francis and Shelly Neal to the wall.

Altogether, the school raised $750 in an hour.

Fidelity donates musical instruments to local middle school

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- On Friday, Mar. 25, representatives from Fidelity Investments surprised students at Alpharetta's Holcomb Bridge Middle School with a donation of new musical instruments.

The gift, valued at approximately $20,000, included four flutes, five clarinets, two French horns and two euphoniums.

This generous donation was part of Fidelity's FutureStage program, an arts education initiative to support music programs in public schools across the country.

"Fidelity is happy to support the arts in our local schools and help programs like the one here at Holcomb Bridge Middle School provide as many students as possible with opportunities to participate and explore their interests in music," said Joan Michelson, vice president and branch manager of Fidelity's Alpharetta Investor Center.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Saturday, March 26 from 11-3:30 is the 9th Annual Alpharetta Children’s Festival. It’s held at the Alpharetta Community Center Event Lawn, which is on the backside of the dog park and behind the gymnasium. This is a very family friendly event that has arts, crafts, food, educational activities from the fire and police departments and much more. 

The event is free and open to the public. Some of the premium events like the train or pony ride may charge a nominal amount of money. This event will be cancelled in the event of rain, so check the forecast for Alpharetta. If it does rain there is no make-up date, so cross your fingers for good weather!

Donations needed for Fulton Prom Closet

Donations needed for Fulton Prom Closet

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The Housing Authority of Fulton County (HAFC) and the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) are sponsoring the county's second annual Prom Closet program.

The HAFC is seeking donations that will allow disadvantaged young women to dress up for formal events.

Items needed for the Prom Closet include:

* Formal dresses (clean, gently used, all sizes)
* Shoes
* Accessories (bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc.)
* Handbags

Donations can be dropped off at the HAFC (4273 Wendell Drive, Atlanta, 30336) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day to give is Friday, Apr. 1.

The Prom Dress Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the HAFC.

Applications are now being accepted for the giveaway.
