DASANI Celebrated its New PlantBottle® Packaging by Giving Back to Local Eco-Samaritans

The first 100 percent recyclable beverage packages made with plants were made readily available on April 4, 2011 to people across the U.S. To recognize the little things people do to live more sustainably, a DASANI Blue Crew attended two big events in Atlanta on April 16 and April 17 and thanked residents for partaking in eco-friendly activities. The local effort helped to celebrate the national launch of DASANI PlantBottle® packaging – a 100 percent recyclable bottle made of up to 30 percent plants.

More than 1,000 Atlanta residents were “caught,” by the DASANI Blue Crew, being environmental do-gooders.

How to make a difference this Earth Day

How to make a difference this Earth Day

With Earth Day coming up on April 22, you  may be wondering what you can do to help support the environment. Here are some simple suggestions on how to give back to Mother Earth. If everyone adopts a few of these simple life changes – we can all make a difference this Earth Day.

  • Save Water: Skip pre-washing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher – which could save up to 12.5 gallons of water a week. Skip the head-dry cycle and air-dry dishes.
  • Reduce Waste: Opt for a faucet or pitcher water filter rather than buying bottled water – which could keep thousands of water bottles out of landfills and save $600 a year per household.
  • Save Energy: Wash laundry in cold water – which could save up to 80% of the energy used per load. Skip the dryer and opt to hang-drying laundry.

Children can play and learn about the environment

Earth Day is just around the corner, and if you’re looking for a way to involve the kids, there is no better way than with the Earth Day Kids Fest at Chattahoochee Nature Center on April 16 from 10-3.

This is the 9th Annual Earth Day Kids Fest and is sponsored by Captain Planet Foundation and Chattahoochee Nature Center, in addition to being presented by Macy’s Foundation.    As the name would imply, the Earth Day festival is just for the kids.  It’s an event where there is lots of learning, but lots of fun too.
