Join Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails for a Moonlight Garden Dinner

MILTON, Ga. -- Guests can appreciate al fresco dining in a whole new way at Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails on Sunday, June 23. The Crabapple restaurant’s Moonlight Garden Dinner begins with a gathering reception that includes passed hors d’oeuvres and beverages and a tour of Milton’s Acre and Strawberry Fields. Afterwards, guests can take their seat at a special table set up in the Acre for a four-course dinner with wine. Each course features items freshly harvested from Milton’s Acre.

Supper Club fundraiser held at 5 Seasons Brewery

5 Seasons Brewery invites the community to help them kick off the summer patio season while raising money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. They will host the Food Bank’s regular Supper Club fundraiser on June 11 at all three locations. This is a special edition of Supper Club with the theme “Patio Perfect Dining” highlighting great restaurant patios in Atlanta.

Eat dinner at one of the three 5 Seasons Brewery locations on Tuesday, June 11 and 20 percent of your tab will be donated to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

No one should allow their future to happen by accident. That was the message Wendy Boglioli, a 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist for swimming, presented during a “Financially Sound, Physically Strong” event hosted by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM), Atlanta, on May13 at the Georgian Club. Financial Advisor Kristen Fricks-Roman, a senior vice president at MSWM helped develop the private women’s event sponsored by the firm’s Office of Diversity and Genworth Financial.

More than 70 local women attended the event to listen to Boglioli share her personal experience caring for her father the same year she was going for Gold, as get educated on the value of preparation.

“Planning and preparation is key,” stated Fricks-Roman who invited, along with other financial advisors at MSWM, clients to the educational event. “Wendy’s presentation was impactful and brought attention to the affects long-term care planning can have on one’s family and business.”

How do you expose urban youth to Georgia’s agriculture? You open a Pizza Farm!

The Cooperative Extension Metro Collaborative of Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb and Clayton counties have invited 4th and 5th grade students to visit Pizza Farm 2013 on May 8 and 9, 2013 at the State Farmers Market Exhibit Hall located in Forest Park, GA. Attendees will learn how dairy, vegetables, grains and meats come together to make the perfect pizza, as well as about good health and nutrition. 

“We are excited about the Pizza Farm!” states Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension. “Many children think their food comes from the grocery store.  The Pizza Farm will teach them that every pizza starts at the farm.”

Exhibits on the origins of pizza ingredients will be presented in a circuit of stations set up around the State Farmers Market Exhibit Hall.

A community outreach event focused on providing services to pet owners in neighborhoods without affordable and accessible general pet wellness care will take place on Saturday in Atlanta.

Free cat and dog rabies vaccinations and licenses will be offered while supplies last.

The Humane Society of the United States, Fulton County Animal Services, UGA College of Veterinary Medicine’s Animal Welfare Club, Jabula Dog Academy, SnazzyPetUSA.com, Lifeline Animal Project, The Ark Animals Hospital and Save Our Pets Food Bank are hosting the event.

Fun run to benefit Wounded Warrior Project

Fun run to benefit Wounded Warrior Project

CUMMING, Ga. -- Polo Golf and Country Club will host a fun family event this weekend to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Activities include a 2.5-mile fun run and a post-race party with trophies, a bounce house and a barbecue lunch.

The race will be held Saturday, Apr. 27. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the run scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

In honor of its 25th anniversary, the country club plans to donate $500 to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit that helps injured servicemen and women, at the event.

"We are very excited to be celebrating Polo's 25th anniversary and are happy to be directly involved in this great cause," club general manager Dan Moscar said in a statement.

Registration for the fun run is $25 through Apr. 24 and $35 after.

Lights Camera Run to benefit local arts

Lights Camera Run to benefit local arts

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- An upcoming 5K in north Fulton County will benefit a local performing arts program.

Lights Camera Run is a 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier that raises money for the Atlanta Workshop Players, an Alpharetta-based theater company.

People from all walks of life -- not just runners -- are invited to come out and dress up as they run through the streets of Alpharetta in support of the arts.

Race entry ranges in price from $15 to $28. Some packages come with great perks, like tickets to Studio Movie Grill, T-shirts and SWAG bags.

Lights Camera Run will be held Saturday, May 11 at Atlanta Workshop Players Acting Studio. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m., with the run scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
