ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- CrossFit on the Move has signed up to be part of Pushups for Charity Atlanta, an affiliate of National Pushups for Charity Day, for 2011.

Leading fitness service providers across the country have united to declare Apr. 16 National Pushups for Charity Day, putting resources and effort into raising critical funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides services to severely injured members of the Armed Services.

Toby Watson, owner of CrossFit on the Move, joined Pushups for Charity to support WWP.

"I launched CrossFit on the Move as a way to serve the local community and get people engaged in healthy and active lifestyles," he said. "I believe in doing everything possible to foster a fitness environment that nurtures the local community it serves."

Watson is an Army Captain who served two tours in Iraq and earned two Bronze Stars and a Meritorious Service Medal. WWP is a cause that is near and dear to his heart.

On Apr. 16, community participants and members of local police, fire and EMS departments will gather in CrossFit on the Move's two locations:

* Grant Park (290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SE, 30312)
* Alpharetta (27 South Main Street, 30009)

The event will consist of them doing as many pushups as possible in 90 seconds. Every pushup raises a certain amount of money for WWP.

Launched in 2010, Pushups for Charity Day has raised over $250,000 for charities worldwide. The 2011 goal is to double that figure.
