Milton introduces, seeks staff for two new summer camps

MILTON, Ga. -- Planning is in full swing for the City of Milton's two new summer day camps.

Open registration for both sessions -- Camp Bethwell and Camp Joyful Soles -- will begin Wednesday, Mar. 16 and Thursday, Mar. 17, respectively.

Camp Bethwell is a traditional day camp for children ages six to 12. Campers can expect to engage in plenty of fun activities, including arts and crafts, drama, treasure hunts, fitness games and more.

Registration for Camp Bethwell begins at 5:30 p.m. on Mar. 16 in suite 107G of City Hall (13000 Deerfield Parkway, 30004). It will continue during regular business hours after that day.

The camp itself will be at the newly renovated Bethwell Community Center (2695 Hopewell Road, 30004) from Monday, June 6 to Friday, Aug. 5 (with no session the week of July 4), 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Space is limited to 30 children. The weekly cost is $110 for Milton residents and $165 for non-residents.

Camp Joyful Soles is a special session for children with mild disabilities, held in conjunction with Alpharetta's Camp Happy Hearts. It is open to kids ages 12 to 18.

The dates and times for Camp Joyful Soles are the same as those for Camp Bethwell. In addition to the same fun activities, campers will also experience therapeutic equestrian and sports programs.

Registration for Camp Joyful Soles begins at 5:30 p.m. on Mar. 17, also in suite 107G of City Hall. This camp is open to Alpharetta residents as well and will take place at Cogburn Woods Elementary School (13080 Cogburn Road, 30004).

Space is limited to 20 campers. The cost is $125 for Milton and Alpharetta residents and $187.50 for non-residents per week.

Both camps require a $50 per-week, non-refundable, non-transferable fee to hold spaces for additional weeks.

The City of Milton is also looking for nine part-time directors, lead counselors and counselors to run and staff the two camps.

Applicants should be high school graduates as of June 1, 2011. The last day to apply is Monday, Mar. 28.

Full information on qualifications, pay and more is available at Milton's online Career Center.
