Golf tournament to benefit public safety foundation

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has planned a golf fundraiser for next month.

The event will be held Monday, Apr. 29 at Polo Golf and Country Club. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Entry is $250 for individuals and $1,000 for foursomes. Fees include breakfast, use of a golf cart, a boxed lunch, a goody bag and a post-event reception. Sponsorships are also available.

MILTON, Ga. -- Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood and city staff will take part in the Milton High School PTSA family involvement committee's first evening social Tuesday, March 26.

This open public meeting, dubbed "Coffee with the Mayor," will begin at 7 p.m. in the school's media center, located at 13025 Birmingham Highway. Coffee and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Lockwood will speak about the City of Milton's present projects and its future plans. City Councilmembers Bill Lusk, Matt Kunz, Karen Thurman, Burt Hewitt and Lance Large will also attend.

Then staff members including City Manager Chris Lagerbloom, Public Works Director Carter Lucas, Police Chief Deborah Harrell, Fire Chief Robert Edgar, Community Development Director Kathleen Field and Communications Manager Jason Wright will be on hand to discuss pertinent topics and answer any questions residents might have.

Elected officials from Roswell and Alpharetta will also be on hand.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Georgia Senator John Albers (R-Roswell) has canceled a town hall meeting he planned to hold in Woodstock later this week.

Albers canceled the Thursday, Mar. 14 meeting early Monday afternoon. A new date was not immediately announced.

North Fulton Chamber to hold gala at St. Regis

ATLANTA -- The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce will hold this year's Chairman's Gala at the St. Regis Atlanta in Buckhead.

Northside Hospital is the title sponsor of the event, which will be on Saturday, Mar. 23 at 6 p.m.

Festivities include a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing and music from the Atlanta Soul Band. The gala is a black-tie optional event.

Several awards are scheduled to be presented at the gala, including the Harry Rucker Junior Volunteer of the Year Award, the Pioneer Award, the Board Member of the Year Award and the Ambassador of the Year Award.

ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola and Firehouse Subs are partnering for a national sweepstakes centered on stock car racing.

Coca-Cola is sponsoring the Coca-Cola Photo Finish sweepstakes at Firehouse Subs locations through Apr. 21.

During the contest, life-size cutouts of participating Coca-Cola Racing Family members will be placed in FIrehouse Subs locations. Firehouse Subs guests can snap a photo with the cutout and submit it to win. Guests can submit photos via text to cocacolaphotofinish.com, or entries can be mailed.

Participating drivers include Joey Logano, representing the Georgia and Gulf region; Greg Biffle, representing the West and Central region; Danica Patrick, representing the Florida region; Denny Hamlin, representing the South region; and Tony Stewart, representing the Mid-Atlantic region.

Chick-fil-A Daddy-Daughter Date Night returns in 2013

ATLANTA -- Chick-fil-A's wildly popular Daddy-Daughter Date Night will return in February.

More than 100 Atlanta- and Athens-area Chick-fil-A restaurants will host the event on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Every couple in attendance will receive an activity sheet with conversation topics and a booklet called "Continuing the Conversation," which gives the dads and daughters suggestions for getting to know each other better.

"One of Chick-fil-A's goals is to promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone we serve," Chick-fil-A area marketing director Robin Lomax said in a statement. "We understand the importance of father-daughter relationships and want to encourage dads to take a break from busy schedules, enjoy their daughters' company over a meal and have fun."
