ATLANTA -- The new USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 girls poll is here, just in time for Final Four weekend. There are changes in this week's poll, but the name on top remains the same.

North Gwinnett clings to the top spot this week, with Norcross, Wesleyan, Parkview and Columbia making up the top 5.

Buford, Tucker, Miller Grove, Alpharetta and Cherokee round out the top 10.

Redan moves up from 15 to 12, St. Pius X climbs from 19 to 16, while Jonesboro rises from 25 to 22.

North Forsyth joins the countdown at 24, while Woodstock drops out of the Super 25.

ATLANTA -- The latest edition of the USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Girls Poll  is here, just in time for the state playoffs.

There are changes throughout this week's countdown, even among the top 10.

North Gwinnett captured the region crown by beating Norcross in the championship game.  They are 1 and 2 again this week, with Parkview, Wesleyan and Buford completing the top 5.

Columbia moves from 13 to 6, followed by Tucker, Miller Grove, Cherokee and Alpharetta to complete to top 10.

Stephenson slides from 8 to 13, while Calhoun climbs from 23 to 20.

Mountain View and Jonesboro return at 24 and 25.

Sandy Creek and Mill Creek fall out of the list.

Dynamic Duo Leads The Way For Alpharetta Girls

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- After winning 24 games last season, the Alpharetta girls are 22-4 this year.  Thanks to a pair of senior leaders the Lady Raiders have been posting impressive numbers all season long.

Just this week senior guard Lauren Brown reached the 1,000 point milestone for her career in the Lady Raiders victory over Johns Creek.  "She needed 11 points," says Alpharetta Girls Coach Michael House. "It was a very special moment."

Brown's milestone came a week and a half after fellow senior Kylee Smith topped the 2,000 point mark for her career.  It happened on Senior Night against South Forsyth.  The Vanderbilt signee was happy it happened in front of the home crowd. "I was super excited to be among family and friends," says Smith.  "I have played here since the 4th grade in Junior Raiders."

Kylee Smith has been nominated for McDonald's All American honors and will find out if she makes the team Thursday.

ATLANTA -- It's region tournament time and high school basketball teams across the Peach State are taking aim at spots in the Georgia High School State Tournament.

This week's USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Girls Poll has a new face, but the big dog remains on top.

North Gwinnett and Norcross are 1 and 2 this week and seem destined for a third meeting at their region tournament this week. Parkview, Wesleyan and Tucker round out the top 5.

Miller Grove is 6 with Buford, Stephenson, Cherokee and Alpharetta completing the top 10.

Sandy Creek joins the poll this week at 24, while North Forsyth falls out of the Super 25.

Buford's Kaela Davis has season ended by illness

BUFORD, Ga. -- One day after learning that Kaela Davis would no longer play for the Buford girls basketball team, 11Alive News has learned that her departure from the team is due to an illness.

Buford High School officials and the Davis family have refused to make any public comments about the matter that has seen one of the nation's top high school recruits sidelined since Buford's 44-40 loss to Wesleyan back on January 26.

Kaela did not attend Friday night's game against North Hall, but her parents were there.  Both Antonio and Kendra Davis would not go on camera for interviews but did share with 11Alive that Kaela's departure from the Buford team was due to an illness. Meniere's Disease affects hearing and can cause symptoms simular to vertigo.

ATLANTA -- The new USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Girls Poll is here.

This week, there are changes in the top 5, but the name at the stop stays the same.

This week the nationally-ranked North Gwinnett girls solidified their position in the top spot with a convincing win over arch rival Norcross. Also nationally ranked this week are the Parkview girls, who move up to second this week. Norcross, Wesleyan and Columbia round out the top 5.

Buford, Miller Grove, Stephenson, North Cobb and Tucker complete the top 10 in this week's Girls Super 25.

Big movers this week include Redan rising from 24th to 12th, while Mountain View slides from 17th to 23rd.

New additions include Osborne, which joins the list at 19, and Creekview, which is 25th.

Defending state champion McEachern and state finalist Hillgrove drop out of the Super 25 this week.
