Car hits hydrant, closes lanes on major N. Fulton roadway
News

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- One lane in each direction on North Point Parkway south of Old Milton Parkway was closed Wednesday afternoon after a water main break there.

Officials said a fire hydrant there was struck by a vehicle, causing a large underground break in a main water line. The roadway in that location has buckled.

Alpharetta officials said repairs to the heavily traveled roadway will take many hours, and they said traffic on North Point Parkway as well as side streets in that area are expected to be heavily congested.

Motorists are advised to expect significant delays, and to avoid the area if at all possible until further notice.
