A large section of the community will be difficult to impossible to drive through for several hours beginning Saturday morning because of the funeral and because of a large annual event in Alpharetta just down the street from the church.

It's Alpharetta's annual Old Soldiers' Day event, honoring US military veterans. The event attracts thousands of people every year.

Road Closures Notice from the City of Alpharetta

Police, ready to close lanes and streets in downtown Alpharetta beginning at dawn – first for the 5k and 10k races, followed by the outdoor memorial service and then for the big parade along Roswell Street, and also along Old Milton Parkway.

To the east, police will also be closing lanes and at least one street – Webb Bridge Road – in and around the site of the Brown funeral at St. James United Methodist Church, at Webb Bridge Road and Westside Parkway.

The funeral and the parade are set to take place sometime late in the morning hours.

So getting to either event might take some extra time, and getting through Alpharetta might be difficult to near impossible until the early-to-mid-afternoon hours.

The area where there will be street closures and lane closures and more traffic congestion than normal is generally from Georgia 400, west to Wills Road; along Georgia Highway 120, Old Milton Parkway, and along Webb Bridge Road, Academy Street, Milton Street -- in and around that general area.

Again, traffic may begin to clear up by mid-afternoon, after a sad and solemn funeral and an important salute to our veterans.

Friday night, Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend, Nick Gordon is reportedly begging her family to allow him to attend Saturday's funeral.

Several entertainment outlets are also reporting several family members have threatened not to show up, partly over an alleged "sweet 16" themed funeral. Services are set to begin at 11 a.m.

Live coverage of the funeral will be streamed on 11Alive.com.
