ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- When an Alpharetta police officer gave a woman a speeding ticket, she gave him something in return.

Police say the woman was speeding on Kimball Bridge Road at 9:50 Friday morning. After he handed her the citation, she passed him a hand-written note thanking him for doing his job.

Mr. Officer,

Shame on me for speeding. There is a lot of publicity (negative) about police officers and your job is very dangerous. I want you to know that my family and I feel very blessed to be protected by wonderful people like you. So Thank You! -Caring Alpharetta resident

The Alpharetta Police Department tweeted a photo of the note with the comment "Just wow!". A spokesman with the police department confirmed the note was passed to the officer just before 10:00 am Friday morning.
