News

ALPHARETTA -- It's a warning police repeat every New Year's Day: Don't drink and drive.

One metro area driver chose not to heed that warning and ended up getting arrested after police dash cam video captured him driving in the wrong direction on GA 400.

Police arrested Rhett Rush in the early-morning hours of Jan. 1 as he drove north into oncoming south-bound traffic.

According to Alpharetta Public Safety spokesman, George Gordon, police chased the aptly-named Rush for nearly half a mile after he refused to yield to officers. Additional officers showed up and finally stopped Rush by boxing him in.

Police arrested Rush after a brief struggle and charged him with driving under the influence, violating open container laws, driving on the wrong side of the road and attempting to elude police.

He's being held in the Fulton County Jail.
