Ridgeview Charter School names new principal

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- The Fulton County School System has announced that Lisa Hastey will be the new principal of Ridgeview Charter School in Sandy Springs.

She will succeed principal Karen Cox, who joined the district's central office in February.

Hastey joined the administrative team at Alpharetta's Webb Bridge Middle School in 2006; before that, she was an administrative assistant at North Springs Charter High School in Sandy Springs. She has also taught social studies at Milton High School, as well as schools in Cobb County and Fairfax, Va.

Hastey earned a bachelor's degree in government from the College of William and Mary. After graduating, she pursued her interest in politics by serving as a staff member on two committees in the U.S. Senate.

After a six-year stint on Capitol Hill, Hastey moved to the educational arena and earned a master's degree in secondary education from George Washington University. She also holds endorsements in both talented and gifted education and educational leadership.

Hastey is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Mercer University.

She will move to her new position at Ridgeview later this spring.
