ALPHARETTA, Ga -- It's pretty impressive when an elementary school physical education teacher can garner the admiration of a sports legend like the great John Smoltz -- but, Connie Sheets has done just that.

Smoltz praised Sheets' talent early in her career at King's Ridge Christian School, a school he helped to found in 2001.

"He (Smoltz) said Connie could be doing any profession in the country but she chooses to work with young people," said  David Rhodes, Headmaster at King's Ridge.

"Connie has been a teacher at King's Ridge since it opened," said Mandy Hudson, a parent and the president of King's Ridge Athletic Association. "She is a P.E. teacher and coach for softball and track and field. Connie also teaches health education and runs the perennial favorite, Mrs. Sheets' Café, where the lower school students learn about nutrition, food in other cultures, etc."

"She's an amazing individual. She has an amazing passion for every student and cares for each student," said Rhodes. "A little bit of her is in every student."

She is so popular, the entire school chose to honored her in a special way.

"This is Connie's Court," said Rhodes of the school's lower gym.

"I do love my job," said Connie. I know I have the dream job."

Connie Sheets is an 11Alive Class Act winner.
