Why would a successful business change locations?  After several years of operating the successful consignment store she purchased in 2008, Trudy Morse, the owner of Emily’s Closet didn’t take this business move lightly.  “The shop had been at the same location for five years.

ATLANTA – According to the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, “country music is a perennial Southern favorite in Atlanta and it won’t disappoint”. The music, which has its roots in the south, is known as a blend of, both, traditional and popular music. The country music genre gained widespread popularity around the mid-1900’s as music known as “hillbilly” or old-time music began to decline. Hillbilly music was a genre of music native to the people of the Ozarks. The music was usually played on acoustic instrument like a guitar or a banjo.

Over the years, old-time music changed however most of the lyrical content and instrumentation stayed the same. As it evolved, the arrangement of instruments grew to include the electronic keyboard, drums, the bass, fiddle and the harmonica.

Try It Review: One Second Needle

Try It Review: One Second Needle

ALPHARETTA, GA - Sewing is never a favorite thing for Valerie Thomas, who often takes clothes to her mom or the cleaners to keep from threading those little needles.

"It's really, really hard," Valerie said. "I mean you really have to focus and concentrate. I was like - okay if I just get this little string and . . . no. It gave me a headache."

The One Second Needle is supposed to make life a whole lot easier for Valerie and others with needle phobias. Simple as 1-2-3, just loop the thread and slide across the special threading opening.

The kit sells for $10 plus shipping and handling and comes with a sewing kit that includes eight needles, rolls of thread, scissors and a small plastic case.

At first Valerie had trouble getting it to work.

"No, that didn't work," she laughed. "It broke off."

Affordable Decor In Alpharetta

Affordable Decor In Alpharetta

There's a fledgeling store in Alpharetta that combines liquidations, closeouts, consignments and art all under one roof.
Affordable Decor is the brainchild of Lynn Wheeler and Kay Robinson.

"We wanted to turn our passion of yard sales, estate sales and auctions into a business," said Robinson.

The two women regularly scout out auctions and estate sales. Robinson said they pass up all but the very best deals.

The small, eclectic  store also features the work of local artists including paintings, photography and pottery, and they hope to feature the work of more artists in the near future.

Affordable decor also sells furniture and household decor items on consignment. "We bring in consignment stuff from all over the area. We take very little money versus the other stores. A lot of them keep 50 percent of the selling price or more, we're only doing 35 percent," said Robinson.
