'Elf on the Shelf' creator to sign books at Von Maur

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- A co-author of "The Elf on the Shelf" will host a book signing at North Point Mall next month.

Metro Atlanta resident Chanda Bell created "The Elf on the Shelf" with her mother Carol Aebersold. The book follows the adventures of scout elves who are recruited by Santa Claus to help him determine which children have been naughty and which have been nice.

Aebersold and Bell based "The Elf on the Shelf" on their family's own pixie elf, Fisbee, who appeared in their home every holiday season to "spy" on the children and make sure they were being good. Customers can purchase a special "The Elf on the Shelf" box set with a copy of the book and an elf of their very own.
